What Is a GeoGrid?
A GeoGrid is a map-based search tool that shows you how your business ranks on Google Maps across multiple geographic points around your location — all in a single snapshot.
Instead of seeing just one ranking for your business, a GeoGrid gives you a grid of rankings across an area. Each point on the grid represents a different location, and the number shown tells you what position your business appears in when someone searches from that spot.
💡 Why does this matter? Your Google Maps ranking isn't the same everywhere. A customer two blocks away might see your business at position 1, while someone five miles away might not see you at all. GeoGrids reveal this variation so you know exactly where you're strong and where there's room to improve.
The Four Information Panels
Every GeoGrid result has four white information panels displayed at the bottom of the map. Here's what each one tells you:
Panel 1 — Date & Time
Shows the exact date and time the GeoGrid search was run. This gives you a precise snapshot of how the business was performing in local search at that specific moment. It's especially useful when comparing multiple GeoGrids over time — you'll always know exactly when each one was taken.
Panel 2 — Google Region
Shows the language region used for the search. There are only two options:
🌐 Global Use this when searching in English — even if the business is in a non-English speaking country. For example, an English-language search for a business in France should use Global.
📍 Local Use this when searching in the local language of the country. For example, a French-language search for a business in France should use Local.
In English-speaking countries, Global and Local are interchangeable.
Panel 3 — Grid Size & Node Distance
This panel tells you two things: how large the grid is, and how far apart the nodes are from each other.
Node Distance Node distance defines how far apart each point on the grid is from its immediate neighbors — above, below, left, and right. You can choose the distance in meters or miles. The larger the distance, the wider the geographic area your GeoGrid covers.
Panel 4 —
Panel 4- Your Three Ranking Scores
The fourth panel shows three numerical scores that summarize your overall performance across the entire grid. There is a blue information icon on the GeoGrid results page you can click any time for a quick reminder of what each score means.
