GeoGrid Search Top 3 Notifications
Explanation of a Geogrids of a top 3 notifications
GeoGrids Understanding Three-Pack Ranking Notifications in GeoGrids Know instantly when a search term earns a new top-3 ranking — or recovers one it lost.
What Are Three-Pack Notifications?
LocalOptics automatically alerts you when a search term achieves a notable ranking milestone on Google Maps. Specifically, it notifies you when your business:
- Enters the Google Maps top 3 (the "three-pack") for the first time at a node, or
- Recovers a top-3 ranking at a node where it had previously dropped out
These notifications appear as color-coded banners on your scheduled GeoGrid configurations — so you can see at a glance which search terms are hitting new milestones without having to open every GeoGrid individually.
The Color-Coded Banner System
Configurations that have hit a ranking milestone display a colored banner. There are three possible states:
🟢 Green Banner — New Top-3 Ranking

A green banner means a search term has entered the Google Maps three-pack for the first time.
What to look for:
- A green upward arrow appears next to the search term in the left sidebar
- On the map, a gold star appears on the specific node that achieved a top-3 ranking for the first time
- This is a brand new milestone — the business has never ranked in the top 3 at that node before
This is a win worth celebrating and reporting to your client. It means your optimization efforts are producing results in areas that were previously out of reach.
🔵 Blue Banner — Recovered Top-3 Ranking

A blue banner means a search term has returned to the Google Maps three-pack after previously dropping out of it.
What to look for:
- A blue upward arrow appears next to the search term in the left sidebar
- On the map, a silver star appears on the specific node that recovered its top-3 ranking
- This node was previously in the top 3, dropped out, and has now come back
A recovery is just as valuable as a new ranking — it shows that rankings are stabilizing and that any dip was temporary.
🟢🔵 Both Banners — New and Recovered Rankings

Occasionally you will see both a green and blue banner on the same configuration. This means the search term has nodes that fall into both categories at the same time:
- Some nodes are achieving a top-3 ranking for the first time (green)
- Other nodes are recovering a top-3 ranking they had previously lost (blue)
This is a strong positive signal — rankings are both growing into new territory and stabilizing in areas that had previously dropped.
