GeoGrid Metrics Explained
Full detailed break down of Metrics in Geogrids
These three scores are the heart of every GeoGrid result. Understanding what each one measures will help you track your progress and spot areas for improvement.
AGR — Average Grid Rank Your average ranking across all nodes where your business appears in the top 20. Any node showing a ranking of 20+ is excluded from this calculation. Lower is better — a score of 1 means you rank #1 at every node.
ATGR — Average Total Grid Rank Like AGR, but includes every node — even ones where you rank 20+. Those nodes count as 21 in the calculation. If your business appears in the top 20 on every node, your AGR and ATGR will be identical. Lower is better. A high gap between AGR and ATGR means many nodes where you rank poorly.
SoLV — Share of Local Voice The percentage of nodes where your business ranks in the top 3 — the Google Maps "three-pack". This score is always between 0 and 1. A score of 0.37 means you appear in the top 3 at 37% of nodes. Higher is better — aim to increase this score over time.
AGR vs ATGR — What's the difference?
AGR (Average Grid Rank) Only counts nodes where you appear in the top 20. If you don't rank in the top 20 at a node, that node is skipped entirely. This gives you a picture of how well you're doing where you're already visible.
ATGR (Average Total Grid Rank) Counts every node, including those where you rank 20+. Those nodes are counted as a ranking of 21. This gives you a more complete picture that includes the areas where you have no visibility at all.
If your AGR and ATGR are identical, it means your business appears in the top 20 at every single node in the grid.
What Good Scores Look Like
Use this as a general guide when interpreting your results:
| Metric | Strong | Average | Needs work |
|---|---|---|---|
| AGR | 1 – 5 | 6 – 10 | 11+ |
| ATGR | 1 – 6 | 7 – 14 | 15+ |
| SoLV | 0.6 – 1.0 | 0.3 – 0.59 | 0 – 0.29 |
💡 Remember: These ranges are general guidelines, not hard rules. The most important thing is to track your scores over time and look for consistent improvement — your scores should trend in the right direction after any local SEO work.
